Le Roy, NY

Day 1 | Sept 18

Left Wesley Clover at 11AM.
No problems at the border, questions: How much liquor we had on board, cash, and what we did for a living, where we’re going (not when were coming back)
Stopped in Le Roy, NY at a Walmart, asked about overnight stays which they don’t allow, maybe because the Walmart is in a strip mall. Got a lot of groceries for our money. Left Gord in the beer section where he contemplated moving here. Who can blame him, a case of 24 cans of Blue is 54.00 at home, for a better (microbrewery) beer of 24 cans 18.00…we’ll deal with rehab once at home lol.
We arrived at our first campground, Timberline Lake, Le Roy, NY at 5PM. Gord was actually enjoying the drive so much he wanted to go further, but I felt tired from sitting with my feet up looking at scenery! The park was nice, a bit pricey at 42.00 but Gord liked the idea of 50 Amp. Good wifi, the ground is level, and close to get back onto the highway

Walmarts are worth every penny when available, but don’t overlook public parks in the US either (National, state, county, and municipal). Generally fewer amenities, but much better space and scenery. Also typically much cheaper.

Walmarts are worth every penny (yes, we still have pennies here) you pay, but don’t overlook public campgrounds in the US (National, Forest Service and BLM, state, county, and municipal). They are almost always more spacious, more scenic, and cheaper although they often have fewer amenities.
